About Surfrider Foundation

MISSION

The Surfrider Foundation is dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world's ocean, waves, and beaches through a powerful activist network. We ensure clean water, healthy ocean and coastlines, and accessible beaches for all to enjoy by finding lasting solutions to the threats our ocean faces.

Right now, Surfrider has 56% of our coasts protected. We have a vision to protect 100% of the U.S. coastlines over the next five years.

SURFRIDER AND COASTAL CHARM

At Coastal Charm, we love the ocean; we grew up with it, have laid on its beaches all our lives, and have seen what happens when natural disasters and human ignorance degrade its shores. We’ve focused the designs on our t-shirts on the water and the creatures that thrive in and around it, and that’s why we couldn’t think of a better organization to donate to than to the Surfrider Foundation.

With your help, we can save our beaches and coastlines. We vow to donate 10% of our net profits to the Surfrider Foundation and other charities like it so that we will always have sand beneath our feet and the sound of crashing waves in our ears and hearts.

OTHER ORGANIZATIONS WE LOVE

Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center

“The mission of the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center is the conservation and preservation of all species of marine turtles, both in the water and on the beach. We accomplish this through the rescue, care, and release of sick and injured sea turtles, public education regarding the plight of sea turtles and the threat of their extinction, and learning opportunities for students of biology, wildlife conservation, and veterinary medicine from around the world. A nonprofit organization, we view our work as a privilege and are honored to work with these magnificent creatures.”

Whale and Dolphin Conservation

“WDC, Whale and Dolphin Conservation (formerly WDCS) is the leading global charity dedicated to the conservation and protection of whales and dolphins. We defend these remarkable creatures against the many threats they face through campaigns, lobbying, advising governments, conservation projects, field research and rescue. Our vision is a world where every whale and dolphin is safe and free.
WDC’s core belief is that all whales and dolphins have the right to exist as nature intends, not as humans decide. To be able to live free from hunting, captivity, entanglement in fishing gear and nets, and to swim in clean, noise-free waters where boats won’t injure them.”

Cousteau Society

“Founded in 1973 by Captain Jacques-Yves Cousteau, the Society has more than 50,000 members worldwide. Under the leadership of President Francine Cousteau, the Society continues the unique explorations and observations of ecosystems throughout the world that have helped millions of people understand and appreciate the fragility of life on our Water Planet. Half a century of protecting water systems has expanded to embrace a wide variety of programs to encourage communities to achieve sustainable harmony with Nature as the Cousteau Label program.

Headquartered in Hampton, Virginia, membership-supported, not-for-profit environmental education organization, the Society is dedicated to the protection and improvement of the quality of life for present and future generations.”

Lynnhaven River NOW

“In 2002, a committed group of local citizens came together to foster partnerships that would apply public and private resources to the challenge of reducing pollution in the Lynnhaven River, an tributary of the Chesapeake Bay. Our goal is a clean and healthy Lynnhaven River and our objectives are:

To identify and reduce sources of contamination in the river; reduce nutrients, sediments and chemicals running off of our lawns, parking lots, roadways and out of our septic systems. To educate and engage the community and partner organizations in restoring and protecting the Lynnhaven River.
To restore lost habitats such as oyster reefs, salt marshes, and other buffers that help to filter polluted runoff and protect the river and its marine life.”
